Date | Original Topic | 24th August 2002 | What a Fantastic website By Phil Hardy I am new to the Rorke's Drift website and I am happy to say that I think it is one of the finest historical sites I have discovered on the Internet. I am from California and first saw the Zulu film upon its initial American release in 1964. I was only 9 years old when the movie came out but it has remained one of my all time favorite movies. I actually stumbled on to this site when I was looking up some information on actor Stanley Baker, who portrayed Lieutenant Chard. It is great to able to read about all the VC winners and what happened to them in their lives after their epic struggle to survive. I was also pleased to have the myths portrayed in the Zulu film cleared up. However, I was a bit misty when I learned that the Zulu army did not salute the Rorkes Drift defenders; and, in fact retreated from the advancing forces of Lord Chelmsford. Ah, but it is a small price to pay for historical accuracy. Keep up the great work at this site. | Date | Replies | 24th August 2002 | Peter Critchley Hi Phil,

You are entirely welcome. I am certain I will think up some question for all the experts on Rorke's Drift.
