Date | Original Topic | 9th May 2001 | Rorke's Drift name By Alan Spencer A simple one, hopefully.
A history newsgroup is asking the source of the name 'Rorke'. Presumably a settler who set up by the drift? Any real details available? | Date | Replies | 9th May 2001 | James Wilson It was named after an Irishman, Jim Rorke, who set up a trading post at the drift. I will try to find you a link to the history of it. | 9th May 2001 | James Wilson This wasn't the one I was looking for but it will do.
