Date | Original Topic | 18th July 2005 | Ngobozana By Stephen Coan When King Cetshwayo visited England in 1882 he was accompanied by three chiefs Mkhosana, Ngcongwana and Ngobozana. There are photographs of Mkhosana and Ngcongwana taken by Alex Bassano of 25 Old Bond St. Does anyone know of the whereabouts of one of Ngobozana? I am inquiring on behalf of his great-grandson. | Date | Replies | 18th July 2005 | Mike McCabe It's a long shot, but does he by any chance feature in photographs taken whilst the King was still in captivity at Cape Town Castle. The problem is usually lack of comprehensive captioning and, so, nameless faces.
On another tack, have you tried approaching The Royal Archives at Windsor.
MC McC | 18th July 2005 | Ron Sheeley Dear Stephen, Sending you a scan to your personal email address of two Bassano cabinet photos of indunas who accompanied Cetshwayo to England in 1882. |
