Date | Original Topic | 28th March 2001 | Zulu Wars By Richard Green Just wondering if anyone had seen the press narrative called Zulu Wars narrated by John Hurt. It's only shipped on VHS format and has two tapes. If anyone has seen it how good is it? and is it worth buying?
Many thanks
Richard Green | Date | Replies | 28th March 2001 | Alan Critchley Richard,
I have the tapes. In my opinion they are well worth having and watching. They take a mainly Zulu point of view with many Zulus involved in the making. It makes the sequence of events and Zulu customs more understandable. Costumes and props are excellent. Still can't get my tongue around Zulu words and their names.
Their seems to be a shortage of Redcoats as extras. Some scenes are taken from Zulu Dawn in the mass scenes, especially of the Britsh lines.
Worth seeing.
Alan Critchley. | 2nd April 2001 | Richard Green Cheers Alan for your reply, I think I'll treat myself to the tapes irrespective of what my girlfriend thinks I should be spending my hard earned money on. If you'd said they were rubbish I'd probably still buy them.
Many Thanks
