Date | Original Topic | 29th May 2005 | Zulu's after the battle By Paul can anyone explain why the battle of isandhlwana. The zulu army did not take every possessions off the soldiers. Did they not have time? | Date | Replies | 30th May 2005 | Michael Boyle Paul,
To my knowledge the Zulus seem to have gotten pretty much everything with the exception of Col. Durnford's, and Lts.Coghill's and Melvill's (on the Natal side), or things dropped. They did seem to have more than enough time according to Zulu accounts where the last of them (who could) didn't vacate the field until Lord Chelmsford's approach at @1800.
However if some of the 'Last Stands' went longer than we credit perhaps lack of time could have been the case. (What other personal possesion's were found?)
Best
