I have been thinking on this subject for a while. While we have seen many US civil war European regiments (the fighting 69th, the Irish brigade) for example and English, Irish and many other Europeans in the US Army for most of the 19th century.
My question is, were there Americans in British regiments, especially in the 1880's? Possibly in the 24th ?

Regards

Mike

Dear Mike,

I cannot recall anyone from the 24th who served in AZW. Capt Wardell (kia Isandlwana) was born in Toronto - Canada - but you probably do not want to know that. There were a few of enlistments in 1880s and 1890s from men born in USA (their parents could have been British born).
