This might be of interest to those who would like to combine both of these subjects -
http://www.littlehand.co.uk/anglo-zulu/anglo-zulu_box.asp I like the idea. Coll |

I decided against pursuing this set further, due to lack of information supplied.
I liked the concept, but am considering creating my own Isandlwana/Rorke's Drift theme chess set(s), using the high-quality, ready painted 54mm metal figures, obtained from Britains, etc. Coll |

That sounds good. It would give you more satisfaction to have done it yourself as well.
I have left a message regarding the above mentioned chess set but like you find it a pain that there is not more info on it. |

As a temporary set(s), there are plastic 54mm Zulu War figures available, which might pass as a prototype, until you pursue creating the more expensive version later.
It'll maybe help give an idea of what you are wanting. I may have to go this route beforehand myself. Coll |

If what Mike says is true, then they did play chess, as he suggested they might have beat Col. D. with Fool's Mate, which is one of the quickest checkmates you can get ! Coll |
