Yes it is a Drummer's Sword (Line Pattern), missing its cross guard. John Y. |

Lavagna,
'Line Pattern' as in Infantry of the Line. First introduced in 1856, it was still in use until superceded by the 'Sword, Drummer's Mk. II and Bugler's Line Regiments' in 1895. Which was almost the same design. To my knowledge they were in use in Full Dress during the reign of King George V, as there are photographs in which they still appear. John Y. |
