Private Alfred Saxty's Medals to be Sold

According to an article in the South Wales Argus today, Private Saxty's South African and Burmese Campaign medals are to be sold by Noonans on Wednesday 19th April.

According to Christopher Mellor-Hill, Head of Client Liasion at Noonans, they are expected to fetch up to £20,000. It's not stated who the seller is.

I should have said that he retired to Newport, South Wales, where he died; he's buried in St Woolos Cemetery.

The grave is marked by a headstone arranged by the (I think) Anglo-Zulu War Society.

Yes, that's the one, thanks. They also erected headstones on the two other defenders' graves in the cemetery.
