Brilliant site informative and exciting having been an amatuer military historian for 15 years particularly British history I found this to be one of the best sources of information regarding the battles in and around Rorkes drift. Zulu is a classic movie and despite discrepancies beats hands down any of the "blockbusters" one sees today. You cannot beat reallife when it comes to reading or hearing about truly brave and heroic stories. I have several books on Rorkes drift and have read quite a bit about it so appreciatte that artistic licence and interpretation can affect but not neccesarily damage a true story. Great site Thanks I will be back

Incredible site. Thanks, read reports previously, plus Zulu and Zulu Dawn. Will never look at Hooky in the same light again.

Good morning sir: we came into the store in Cookstown several times when we were living in Glencairn - we have now been posted to British Columbia and I want to know if I can get a certain book. It is "Like Wolves on the Fold" Lieut-Col. Mike Snook Greenhill Books, London Stackphole Press, Pennsylvania. Ian was consumed the last one we bought a couple of months ago about the Zulu wars, and this book I am asking about is referred to as coming into print. Can you give me any information about this, and can I order it through your store. We are enjoying the scenery of BC, but Ontario looks pretty good from here. Any help you can give will be most appreciated. Thanks & blessings - kathleen

Have just bought the DVD of Zulu. Strong
memories of the film when it was first
released. Cinematography was wonderful.
What was the name of the song that the
soldiers sang when the Zulus were chanting?
Was the Sergeant Major in the film a fictious
character?

This is probably the best web site I have visited regarding Isandlwana & Rorkes Drift.
I will be visiting both sites this coming weekend and have been reading as much as I can before I go.
I have previously visited Spionkop and am very much interested in the Boer war.

SGT Henry Gallagher is a distant ancestor of mine. I would appreciate any info...I was under the impression that he hailed from County Mayo. Sincerely yours, Patrick Daniel Gallagher

Having visited the battle grounds, I could feel the sadness around. I viewed the monuments with interest, so many lives lost over such a short time. They did not die in vein.

I have had a strong fascination for the Zulu War since I found an old book as a very young boy. (Only years later was I to discover that the current spelling of my family's name is a corruption of Bromhead!) To me the ZW, and particularly Rorke's Drift symbolizes the worst aspects of war and the highest and best natures of brave men.

Great site. I have been a big fan of the films since a small age, and after going for a day out which celebrated the 30th anniversary Sir Stanley Baker's death, I have been intrigued to learn more about the battle, how it all began and what it was actually about. This website is full of fantastic facts, and has now been added to my favorites! Sir Stanley Baker lived only a few miles from me, and Zulu is one of my favorite films! Looking forward to learning a lot more from this site, as it is so addictive!

Tremendous site. I've been glued to it for two days. Got out my VHS of Zulu and went through it again. Shame the movie makers have to "enhance" the personalities involved.
What a breed the old-timers were!
