In Bosleys forth coming auction Sep 13 th there is a Zulu war medal up for auction estimated price �300 - �500 the medal belonged to Pte R Kernick 1st 24th Regiment with 1879 clasp but on his medal roll it say's with 32nd Regiment. I must assume that he joined the 24th after the battles of Isandlwana and Rorke's Drift no doubt to make up the numbers after their great loss at Isandlwana.

25B/1836 Richard Kernick joined after Isandlwana - came out on the Clyde - originally 41st Foot. Who he joined or whether he stayed when 1/24th returned to UK I do not know. |
