Hi guys,

Quick one for the experts. Is it easy to get to Hlobane from Isandlwana and visit it in a day? - Any advice?

Thanks,

Jamie

Hlobane and Khambula are "do able" in a day from Isandlwana but I would suggest that you check to see if it is still possible to get to the top of Hlobane in a four wheel drive vehicle otherwise I would think that you could run out of day light hours if you attempt to walk up to Devil's Pass.
I assume that you will be using a guide who knows the area well?

Get in touch with Sean Friend at Vryheid; he is probably the best guide to Hlobane and Khambula since the death of Fred Duke. You can reach him at [email protected], phone: 034 983-2256; mobile: 082-367-9100.

A caution: Hlobane is a very big site - the whole mountain - and if you want to do Khambula too, you might consider not going to the top of the mountain and Devil's Pass. Better, perhaps, to spend an extra night in the area. Sean's cousin, Stephen Friend, and his wife, run a great B & B between Isandlwana and Vryheid. I can give you details if you let me know. You will need your own transport too. While you are in the area, you might also consider going to iNtombe Drift, which is doable in those two days.

I agree with Keith. Spend a night further north so that you are not unduly rushed.

Enjoy the view. That's all you'll find up there. Though I did once meet a mad-woman up there. But that's another story...

Hi, all

I absolutely agree. Sean is also a fellow Moth. None better on Hlobane than him at present.

Hi guys,

Quick one, Do I need a map to get from Isandlwana to Hlobane? Anyone know if I can get a hold of one in the UK or is it better to get one when I am in country?

Regards,

Jamie
