Evening guys,

I know it has been covered before but what kind of weather could I expect at RD and Isandlwana in Aug / Sept / Oct?

The first and only time I have been there (so far!) was in November and the weather was good. Sunny and not overly hot.

I was there in August and during the day it was lovely--sunny with a temperature of 22 to 23 Celcius every day but around 6 o,clock in the evening it started to cool down and nightime is very nippy.
Take some warm clothing with if you intend to go out and about of an evening.
Enjoy yourself.

Robert

Hi Jamie

Watch out for the wind. It can get distinctly draughty at Isandlwana, and though it might seem improbale a top coat might come in handy - or a fleece at least.

Regards as ever

While we're on the subject, what kind of weather can I expect in early May?

Kind regards,

Paul,

It is ten degrees C tonight in Dundee, but at least the rain have stopped. The powers that be have predicted cold.

Thanks, Johnny - does it tend to be rainy and cold in April and May also?

Best wishes

Mike..dust...wind...August

This mornings temp was 9 and expected hi of 20?? maybe we can expect a early winter? Log fire for tonite and jacket is a must. Suitable layered clothing is always advisable for visits to the battlefields throughout the year as we experience often 4 seasons in a day

Paul,
You could not wish to go, weather-wise, at a better time. May is normally the end of the hot humid weather and the very beginning of cool cloudless days with a delightful chill in the evenings. Normally little or no wind.
Regards,
Peter

Paul (Bryant-Quinn)

Just catching up with a few threads and saw this one. I was out there in early May last year and I must say Peter Q has described my experience of the weather conditions perfectly. (In UK terms I thought it akin to one of our late September "indian summers".)

In case it is of any help with your planning I can tell you that daytime wear was short sleeved shirts and lightweight trousers (some wore shorts). I took a lightweight "fleece" which proved ideal for the chill evenings.

As an outer layer I also took a lightweight cagoule (kagoule?). I didn't need it but at least it was there in my backpack just in case. Hope this is helpful.

Jamie,

Warm, almost nice. Wind might be a factor, but that is just me speculating. Beer will be cold, bro.
