You may want to track down a copy of "Eyewitness In Zululand - The Campaign Reminiscences of Colonol W. A. Dunne, South Africa, 1877 - 1881" by Lieut-Colonel Ian H. W. Bennett ISBN 1-85367-033-2. It includes the back story of the months of bickering that went into the award of the eleven VCs. (I haven't read it yet but it's near the top of my list.) Good luck with your paper Best Michael |
