Interesting article on an upcoming auction, wonder if it will exceed its estimate?

The medal appears quite worn. South Africa medals have been faked but this looks good to me.

Number: 1524
Rank: Private.
Name: Joseph Bromwich.
Regt: 2nd 24th Regt Foot
Place of Birth: St Marys Warwick.

I can't help thinking that possibly instead of spending that money on a medal,
possibly just for investment purposes, some could be allocated to provide a
headstone to replace the pathetic marker that is there at present.

Maybe the local Royal Welsh Regtl Assoc could be persuaded to improve the grave.

It might be a cause for Tim Needham. However, my original point was that whoever
buys the medal might think about what was required to be awarded it in the first place
and respect that side of the purchase.

The medal is being sold by a descendant according to the report, so who is to say that an improved memorial might not result from the handsome sum they will receive. The biography of Joseph Bromwich is included in volume 3 of Kris Wheatley's "Legacy" series.

It would be a result if the descendant did something about the memorial. However, it may not occur to them.
