Hello, everyone. I've just become a member of the Forum and I'm looking forward to future discussions on the topics of Rorke's Drift and Isandhlwana.
I am hoping to visit the sites next year.
On my lounge wall, I have a beautiful oil painting 36" x 20" which is a faithful reproduction of Alphonse de Neuville's depiction. I am very lucky to have a relative who runs a studio in Italy which employs classically-trained artists. In this way, I have been able to have a number of paintings by Lady Butler commissioned (as many as my long-suffering wife will allow me to hang !).
I am at present waiting for delivery of "Isandhlwana" and still figuring out the best way to break the news to my lovely wife.
Although I was in Capetown 2 years ago, I was unable to visit the above sites but, when I go next year, I can relay details etc to all on my return.

again, welcome to the site. I'm sure you'll enjoy your trip. If your wife has any objections,
I could find some wall space for the painting.
