No, Barker doesn't cover the arrival of the fugitives at RD at all, limiting his account of the defence itself to a few paras. There are some interesting snippets in this work (such as the actual list of 28 Carbineers selected to remain in camp, compiled by Royston, which was found among the detritus of the destroyed camp and survived to feature in a 1939 Mercury report.

The difficult task in assessing Barker's work is sifting the very interesting oral history from the possibly doubtful oral history. But that's oral history for you. It is certainly a reminder of the viewpoint of the colonial/settler families as far as their memories and opinions on Isandlwana are concerned, and purports to add to Stalker here and there.

And of course it was actually 29 Carbineers who were in camp...
I have already looked at the other sources you mentioned and there is nothing there to help me. I rather think this is a fool's errand and Morris's silent carbineer ranks alongside his Pip the dog.
