Good Lord. I see that W.W. Lloyd'S Zulu War watercolour album is up for grabs at Sotheby's on July 10th, Lot 29, with an estimate of 40,000-60,000. Any takers?

Well, the book itself was not cheap but I'm certainly very glad I've got it. I wonder how many genuine ernthusiasts would be able to afford the originals, or whether they'll be snapped up purely for investment reasons. At least the book is thrown in as well!

Indeed, Soldier Artist is the most remarkable book, I could study the pictures for hours. I also have Lloyd's On Active Service, and Sketches of Indian Life. Oh, what I would give to add the originals to the library... (but not 40,000, it goes without saying).
