Issuing Of A Compass - Or Privately Purchased ?

I don't think I recall reading about the ownership of a compass, by one or more of the officers, but would Col. D. have had one, and would it have been of a specific make ?

I'm sure he would have had binoculars, but again, would they have been issued or privately purchased, and of a specific make ?

Thankyou

Thanks for the information.

Having an actual makers name is a great help.
