I regret I know of no commericial source. Fortunately on the demise of the Army Medal Office I was able to have original clasps of 6 out of 7 that were produced which are on display in the museum.

Chris Dixon (www.dixonsmedals.co.uk) tends to have a stock of damaged/erased medals that can be used for spares. Failing that, keep an eye out on eBay but please do not, under any circumstances, break up a perfectly good medal.
Or something like this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/South-Africa-Medal-1879-Zulu-War-Rorke's-Drift-Chard-VC_W0QQitemZ170112065232QQihZ007QQcategoryZ583QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Peter |

Alan,
There are a few about, so somebody is making them; http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/South-Africa-Medal-1877-8-9-Zulu-War-Rorke's-Drift-VC_W0QQitemZ170111416631QQihZ007QQcategoryZ583QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem You might try these guys. Monarch Militaria. They have a pretty good range of Victorian campaign copies, and even do an 'ageing' process, and reasonably priced. http://www.monarchmilitaria.co.uk/Medals%20Victorian%20-%20Edwardian%20ONE.htm These guys do 'Custom' computer engraved bars and clasps; http://www.heritagemedals.com.au/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=88 This guy (Robert Finnegan) does an 1877-9 copy, but a bit pricier; http://shoppersworld.co.uk/store/product.asp?s=199&d=1034&p=36701&c=36&s1=145&s2=168&s3=0 And Jeremy Tenniswood (Aldershot Badge and Medal Co Ltd) offers copies without bar, reasonably priced. He also sells a range of 24th badges and buckles. http://www.militaria.co.uk/medals.asp?CatName=Replacement%20Medals&SubCatName=19th%20Century%20Campaign&parentid=4587&catid=4588 That should keep you busy. No doubt 'you gets what you pays for' ! cheers, Sean |

Thanks for the suggestions, I have managed to find somewhere with the 1877-8-9 bar and have ordered the medal as a copy from the RRW Museum as Martin Everett has been a useful sdource of info for me it seemed only right to support the Museum in this way.
