Clive,
No he means 'Blue Books' - British Parliamentary Papers. They are included in 'Archives of Zululand' set. Or try a book search on any of the well-known secondhand book sites. John Y. |

Yes it seems its the parliamentary blue books I am interested in, as I understand it, in a limited way, they were some sort of reports sent to parliament from the colonies.
Thank your for your posts on the subject its most helpful. Kind Regards George Bean. |

The so-called 'Blue Books' are, as JY says, the British Parliamentary Papers, Command Series. This is why the numbers are prefixed with a C. There were quite a few of them covering the period from late 1878 to 1880 and, also as JY says, some extracts of them are reproduced in the Archives of Zululand, edited by Ian Knight and John Laband. This is a six-volume set and very expensive to acquire. A better option is to go to a major public library where they may be available, or at least they can tell you where a set of them can be found. They are in a series of (large) volumes published by the Irish University Press and all told there are some 1,000 volumes of them going back to the year dot. The sub-set you will be looking for is entitled Colonies, Africa. I can send you a list of those covering the war if you let me know. Good hunting. KIS |

I am wondering if there is any favour I can do in return? I have a fairly good selection of zulu/zululand wars material. My Kindest regards and thanks. George-Bean |

I have sent you a list as promised. I might also mention that there is a range of War Office documents covering the Zulu War in the National Archive at Kew. I posted a list of these on the RDVC site in the Pot Pourri section a long time ago. KIS |
