I recently seen a nice reasonably cheap little plaque that Im considering getting to place beside Simon Smiths painting, which has underneath the badge - WHERE DUTY AND GLORY LEAD.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Royal-Engineers-Sappers-occasions-Retirement/dp/B01GTJBWGQ/ref=sr_1_10?crid=1UHDIOM3AT90M&dchild=1&keywords=royal+engineers+plaque&qid=1603823561&sprefix=Royal+engineers+p%2Caps%2C180&sr=8-10

On closer inspection, on the inside of the badge are words that apparently mean - SHAMED BE WHOEVER THINKS BAD OF IT.

The meaning is on Wikipedia -

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honi_soit_qui_mal_y_pense

Not sure for definite I have ever heard that used before, unless it meant nothing to me at the time, but then again Im no militaria expert.

Interesting, but as the site sometimes has dubious information, is this right ?

Purchased the plaque too, but there is a slight difference to that advertised, instead of Duty it says Right, still a nice thing of decent quality and nicely sized to go below the Durnford Rides Out painting by Simon Smith -
