Whilst searching for information about Boer training and tactics, which may have been similarly used by the irregulars, etc. in the AZW, I read a bit about Louis Botha, including seeing his determined expression in a photograph wearing slouch hat, etc., definitely meant business in the way he looked.
Apparently he was an excellent commander, but would only have been about 17 at the time of the Zulu War 1879, but even at such a young age, would he have learned anything from that event, which may have helped him in the later conflicts ?
I know absolute zero about the Boer Wars, but he seems to be a stand-out participant and leader of men, though I dont know if he ever reacted to the AZW at the outset, or perhaps commented on it during later years, for whatever reason
