Zulu War Historians Actually On The Set Of Zulu Dawn

I am curious to know if any Zulu War historians were present on set during the making of Zulu Dawn, either as advisors, or taking the opportunity to visit during the filming whilst visiting the Zulu battlefields on tours, research, etc ?

I was in my teens in 1979, but I know some of the well-known historians are quite possibly 10+ years older than myself maybe Ian Knight, Adrian Greaves, etc., perhaps being consulted before filming began, though I don't recall seeing any firsthand accounts by them.

It just struck me that if a new Isandhlwana film was going to be made, that they as well as museums and military advisors may be informed of the production before anyone else, therefore getting the opportunity to actually go to location when filming started.

To have such a chance to be amongst it all would be too good an occasion to pass up, as I know I'd have been extremely enthusiastic to go if invited

Colin,

I had some contact some time ago with a man in Australia who was a military adviser on the film.
Matthew (Midge) Carter.
