Researching items in use around the time of the Anglo-Zulu War 1879, that Reynolds at Rorke's Drift and Shepherd at Isandhlwana may have had in their possession, this company was top of the list. It has an online illustrated catalogue of all items available at the time, though not the neck brace worn by Hughes in 'Zulu', but does have the arm-sling worn by Private Hitch in his photograph. This specific one which he is wearing differs from the norm in that it is high quality leather instead of standard issue to men in the ranks. I can only assume that the reason could be is his notoriety with being awarded the VC and to meeting the Queen, to be smartly presented for military occasions and photographs.
