There is a photo within The History of War magazine, issue 013, which includes a photograph of Corporal Schiess VC, taken from The Imperial War Museum website.
Have I got it totally wrong, I didn't think any photos existed of him?

Have just noticed the date and location, 1865 in Zululand ! Hmmm!

Colin, 1865 is just a typo. I've seen the image of Schiess before, which must have been taken
from this group shot. It was treated as not authenticated in those circumstances.
You would need the likes of John Young to say if the rest of the group are in NNC uniforms.

The officer in the helmet is indeed a Victoria Cross man, but he is Alan Richard Hill, a Laing's Nek V.C.

Good to see the I.W.M. are on the ball!
