The Rorke's Drift defender, on returning from the war, became a house painter and had six children after marrying Ellen Carroll.

A new headstone has been added to mark Pte. John Manley's grave which was previously unmarked in a communal plot.

A ceremony was held at Carlton Cemetery in Nottingham on 2 November 2014, and was attended by Jan Jarvis, Pte Manley's
great-granddaughter who thanked the members of the Diehard Company re-enactment group for attending the ceremony.

I'm sure we all want to thank Tony Higton for helping to make this possible and providing the image of the new headstone below.
