I have recently come across this account of a lecture on Lt. Chard at Millfield school december 1988, my apologies if this has been mooted previously.
What caught my eye is the account of General Sir Garnet Wolseley, paragraph 22 where he is particulary scathing of "The Doctor" (Surgeon James Henry Reynolds ?) calling him a coward!
In fact he doesn't have anything good to say about either Bromhead or Chard as well.
This comment about Surgeon Reynolds is contrary to anything I have read about his conduct at Rorke's Drift.
Further criticism about Chard through to paragraph 28.
Just wondering what other members views are of this

thanks
Johnk

I note that it is given by David Rattray. It is signed J.C.Kenworthy at the end? I'll will read it all,
despite the poor spelling and punctuation. Do we assume that the references and acknowledgements
listed are supplied by David Rattray?

Alan,

That all appears to be Collis Kenworthy's work, rather than that of David Rattray.

It was published in one of the early editions of The Journal of the Anglo-Zulu War Research Society, in an amended form.

Small world - my second hand copy of "Then and Now" is dedicated to Collis Kenworthy by authors Knight and Castle.
