When I climbed Isandlwana in 2006 with Dalton from Isandlwana Lodge, we took a 70+ year old lady up with us. She was so determined to get to the top it was unreal......

Turned out that she lived around Isandlwana when she was young and her family ran a store. On the summit she pointed out towards the plain in an Eastwards direction. Wonder if this was the general store she mentioned?

Before we reached the summit she told us she was looking for the initials of a childhood friend. They climbed Isandlwana every Christmas Day when they were childhood friends. Guess what...... we found it. Obviously a very emotional moment for her as she threw rose petals over the stone.

Doesn't look like the location of the modern day hospital either.

I'm pretty sure (but not 100% certain) that I've come across this picture before, but can't think where. I have quite a few works on missions or civilian life in the district which contain photos of Isandlwana and the area between, say, 1880 and WW2, but can't place it yet. Unless I saw it on the online catalogue of the Killie Campbell collection a few years ago?

Still looking!
