Does anyone have colour photos of the artillery pieces used in the Zulu war, that they would like to share?
Specifically, the 7-pdr RML and the 9-pdr RML as seen at the SA Museum of Military history, Johannesburg. Have any models of these ever been produced?
thanks
Simon

Simon,

I don't have any colour photographs, but I have an original photograph of the two guns of N/5 from Isandlwana after they were recovered.

If that's any use?

Dear All,

The gun in 'Firepower' isn't the right one it is on the wrong carriage.

The model that Lt. posted again isn't the right one.

The 9-pounder in Harman's link to Bermuda shows the right pattern R.M.L. for the time, the one with the unfused shells in front of it.

For those who might be interested this is a close-up on one of the recovered Isandlwana cannon.

The 2 cannon are presently being restored at the Old Fort in Durban.
Unfortunately, according to KG, woodrot has been found and restoration is being delayed.
It is intended that they will be fired again at some appropriate occasion.
Can anyone assist with the wherabouts/fate of the 2 (or 6) Isandlwana cannon

Robin,

We've gone over the fate of the Isandlwana cannon on a previous thread, either on this or on the old forum. Their fate is unknown I'm afraid.
