Date | Original Topic | 7th December 2004 | Original Equipment By duncan There is a huge auction of zulu war militaria on 14 Dec at Anderson and Garland auctioneers in Newcastle pon tyne, all from the private collection of dennis slack it includes uniforms and weapons, as well as artefacts from the battlefield. | Date | Replies | 10th December 2004 | Dave Nolan I see some of the lots are given the provenance of 'from the museum of the Natal Mounted Police' - I have not heard of this place before, can anyone shed any light? There are no accession numbers or further details given. It must be, or have been, a fascinating collection. Dave. | 30th December 2004 | Tait As a follower of guns and other antiques, another good place to try looking for guns of the period would be the Royal Armory in Kathmandu, Nepal. They recently opened up it up to reveal Victorian era guns in excellent condition along with bayonets and other things. | 19th January 2005 | Graeme Cole Through a tortuous route I managed to obtain a limited quantity of accessories from the Nepal cache. I have a few original black MH slings, Mk2 & Mk4 jags & sight protectors, brass Oil bottles, MH tools and some inert early MH rolled cartridges. Anyone who is interested do email me for prices. |
