Does anyone have biographical detalis of Lt. Curling RA, the only artillery officer to escape from Isandlwana?

Henry Thomas Curling, born 27.6.1847.

Attended Royal Military Academy, Woolwich. Lieutenant 15.7.1868; Captain 16.8.1879; Major ***; Lt.-Colonel ***; Colonel 4.1.1899. To Half-Pay 4.1.1900. Retired Pay 16.4.1902.
Died Ramsgate, Kent, 1.1.1910.

Embarked on board 'The Dublin Castle' 9th January, 1878, arrived at the Cape 9th February, 1878.

Served in the 9th Cape Frontier War against the amaKhosa.

Present at the action of Isandlwana, in command of a section of two guns of 'N' Battery, 5th Brigade, Royal Regiment of Artillery, until the return to the camp of Brevet Major Stuart Smith.

Survived the action of Isandlwana, accounts left.

Gave evidence to the Court of Inquiry.

'The South African Campaign of 1879' states:
"Served throughout the war with the exception of a few weeks spent on sick leave whilst the battery was at Helpmakaar (sic). Was on detachment at Fort Newdigate from the date of its establishment. Subsequently served in Baker Russell's Column."

Served with 3rd Brigade, R.A., served in Afghanistan 1880.

Obituary notice carried in 'R.A. Institution Leaflet' February 1910.
