Date | Original Topic | 20th October 2001 | DVD By Ian Clarke I was just wondering if anybody knew when the DVD of ZULU was being released. | Date | Replies | 20th October 2001 | Peter Critchley Hi Ian,
There is a DVD out there, in fact, I have it. It's produced by Diamond Entertainment, Cerritos CA 90703. It's a widescreen presentation, with no extras etc. I paid approx 6.00 for it by purchasing from Amazon.com. The DVD has the number "98001" on the spine, and it is presented in a Region Free encoding.
They have a website, www.e-dmec.com which I was unable to get on-screen.
I have read some articles on Amazon which seem to suggest there are two versions of this DVD knocking about. I seem to have the better version, as some people were complaining of a bad transfer, dodgy audio and no widescreen.
The version I have is excellent, with a clear transfer of the video. It was for the reasons above that I didn't post details of my find, as I was concerned that people would get different versions, and then RDVC.com might well get the blame!
I wish you luck in finding it. If I can tell you any more, please let me know.
Regards,
Peter

There's a DVD version out in Canada being retailed by a store chain called 'HMV' that sells CDs, tapes, videos, etc.
I'm not sure if this version is the widescreen one, however it is relatively cheap at $9 Canadian.
Not sure if HMV stores are operating in the UK but you could probably order online.
FYI.
Stephen | 21st October 2001 | Arthur Bainbridge THE dvd of Zulu on region2 seems to move all the time Ithink early 2002 is the most likely just hope it had loadss of extras | 21st October 2001 | Peter Critchley Hi,
I don't think the version I have is 'official', although it is a good video, with no discernable problems (and I did look hard!)...
I think you're right Arthur, early 2002 looks the most likely for the "official" release.
Peter | 22nd October 2001 | Diana Blackwell There's another DVD version out which features a short bio of Michael Caine, a three-question quiz, and an interactive menu that allows you to skip around through the different "chapters" of the film. This version is widescreen and digitally mastered. I find the quality of the picture and sound to be just fine, although the blurb on the package misspells "Rorke's Drift." It's made by Platinum Disc Corporation and the UPC is 96009 01583. I think I got it from Amazon.com |
