I understand that, towards the end of his life, Colour Sergeant Bourne gave an interview to the BBC. Does any body know how I could get hold of a copy or if it is even still in existance. I have seen text extracts but the chance to hear the story from the man himself would be wonderful. Thanks.

Colin,
A recording of the radio broadcast which took place in December 1936 does not exist. Remember it was in the days before regular recordings of broadcasts were made. Bourne's text was published in The Listener dated 30 December 1936. The story that someone in the BBC archives destroyed the recording years later is probably NOT true. It is more likely that a recording was never made. Even David Rattray suggests that a recording did exist - but it just makes a rattling good story. Sorry to give you the bad news.

Don't forget Colin, the full text from the Listener is available in the section devoted to CS Bourne. Click on the "Other Defenders" Link, and you'll see him listed.

Good luck!

Thank you Martin & Peter. I had a feeling that the recording was not still around but the transcript of the Listner article is the next best thing.
Thanks again.
