Glenn Wade | 21st April 2003 | Joe Corn sounds good right now! | 22nd April 2003 | Chris Tapster Mielies (Afrikaans spelling) is maize or corn; the kernels are removed and roasted and can then be made into mielie pap by grinding (traditionally in a coffee grinder when on campaign) and mixed with water. The resultant paste has no taste at all, but when mixed with a tomato-based sauce and eaten with meat or wors is delicious.
