This is for Peter but others may have experienced the same problem:

Since making my first reply and entry to this forum, I have been on the receiving end of a whole load of Spam, that is, gratuitous emails from people offering me goods and services, salacious and otherwise. None of these are, of course, from legitimate users of the forum.

Peter, is there any way to protect respondees from this?

Anyone, can you recommend reliable software to filter out this unwanted stream of rubbish?

"Hi" We all suffer from that problem.
If you download a program called Mailwasher
its free and your spam mail can be blacklisted and bounced back to the senders. hope this is of some help.

Thank you for the information. needless to say I now have it installed. it is a pity you cannot find one for us for some(in minority thank goodness) who come in to the discussion area more to criticize minor typing or misspelt words than to add anything worhwhile. if it is to drive people from the site and joining in and putting points for discssion the they have succeeded with me for at 68 years of age I can do without silly childish comments

HI All...

I, like pretty much every other internet user, suffer from spam. It's all unsolicited and there's not much this, or any other site can do about it.. As Mike has said, it's up to each user to deal with the problem. One of the problems which comes with all this free exchange of information is that your email address ends up getting known. I suggest you put "no-spam" in your email address when you enter it into the site, as someone who wants to email you will remove that part. The majority of spam is sent to email addresses "harvested" using special software that trawls the web for email addresses on web pages like this. An example of how the email address might look is:

[email protected]

This is about all you can do with regard to this or any other website..

Hope this helps!

All the best,

Peter
