The Thatham Art Gallery in Pietermaritzburg recently ran a competition to
celebrate its centenary year. Inspired by the painting of King Cetshwayo -
commissioned by Queen Victoria on the occasion of the Zulu King's visit to
London in 1882 - the challenge was to paint a modern portrait of Cetshwayo.
Altogether the competition attracted some 115 entries.
