Date | Original Topic | 7th February 2003 | NNC Officer killed at Isandhlwana By Martin Everett UK Channel 4 programme last night in UK - 'Empire - Maxim Force' by Professor Niall Ferguson concentrated on the 19th Century European 'Scramble for Africa'. In a film shot at Charterhouse (?) School, it showed a memorial to a Natal Native Contingent Officer killed at Isandhlwana on 22 January 1879 - aged 22. But the name was not in the shot - anybody know who he was? | Date | Replies | 7th February 2003 | John Young Martin,
It is the memorial of Lieutenant Arthur Gibson, 2nd Battalion, 3rd Regiment, N.N.C.
John | 7th February 2003 | Ian Woodason Martin,
His memorial is, of course, on the Keynsham Light Horse website (link from this site).
