7th February 2003NNC Officer killed at Isandhlwana
By Martin Everett
UK Channel 4 programme last night in UK - 'Empire - Maxim Force' by Professor Niall Ferguson concentrated on the 19th Century European 'Scramble for Africa'. In a film shot at Charterhouse (?) School, it showed a memorial to a Natal Native Contingent Officer killed at Isandhlwana on 22 January 1879 - aged 22. But the name was not in the shot - anybody know who he was?

Martin,

It is the memorial of Lieutenant Arthur Gibson, 2nd Battalion, 3rd Regiment, N.N.C.

Martin,

His memorial is, of course, on the Keynsham Light Horse website (link from this site).
