11th January 2003	Tunic Button of The 24th By M.Price Is there any difference in the tunic button between officers and ordinary ranks. regards Mike.

11th January 2003	John Young Mike, Yes a very major one - they're totally different! The officers' button is a '24' surrounded by a foliate design - if you've got Jim Bancroft's 'Rorke's Drift' the button is illustrated on page 150. The other-ranks worn a 'General Service' button which is the Royal Coat of Arms - a crowned lion as the left supporter & a unicorn as the right, holding the crowned inscribed Garter Belt, which surrounds the coat of arms of Great Britain.
