Glynne,

I am assuming that you live in England or Wales, other parts of the U.K. have their own laws governing the possession of firearms.

If you do then it depends on the calibre, and what you actually intend to do with the Martini-Henry. If in doubt contact your local police, and seek their advice.

Glynne,
If the rifle is original 450/577 calibre then you don't need a licence becasue the calibre is deemed obsolescent. However, if you intend to use it with live or even blank ammunition then you must have a Part 1 Firearms Certificate. If the rifle is .303 calibre and has not been deactivated then you also need a Part 1 Firearms Certificate to acquire it and it must be stores in a secure cabinet. Hope this is useful; if in doubt contact the Firearms Department of your county police force.

I believe I saw a Martini Henry for sale at my local gun store here in the U.S. (yes, everything's over-the-counter here). Next time I'm there I'll check the price. If it's not too expensive, we'll see.

How hard is it to find it's caliber ammunition? I am not much of a firearms expert before ww2. If I can find some reproductions I would be glad to fire it and get it on webcam for you guys.
