Date | Original Topic | 30th May 2002 | HMS ZULU By Andy Lee I do apologise Alan if this following subject is viewed not to be relevent to the Rorke's Driftvc.com site.
I was reading a recent article all about HMS Zulu which operated during World War II and which was sunk in the Mediterranean in September 1942. The article went on to say little has been written about this destroyer which once shadowed the Bismarck for 24 hours before the battle with HMS Rodney and King George V.
The article ended with a plea from an ex serviceman who served on HMS Zulu asking to hear from fellow sailors who had served on this destroyer. If you consider what these boys did for this country I thought it was worth mentioning just in case anyone out there has any information. I would gladly pass anything on to the magazine editor.
Once again I do apoloise Alan if this subject is viewed unconnected to this site. | Date | Replies | 30th May 2002 | Alan Critchley Andy,
no problem. Hope you get some information.
Alan | 6th March 2005 | Robert Lloyd-Watts Hi,
My My wife's uncle: John Esquire Young, served in the second world war on the HMS Zulu as Chief Petty Officer in the Mediterranean and north Atlantic and frequently speaks of the Bismark chase. He is a truly exception man of 84 with a sound memory of his time in the Navy. I would be very pleased for you to pass my details on , he has a number of stories and pictures and I know he would love to hear from old ship mates.
Please feel free to contact me on the numbers below.
Kind regards,
Rob. |
