19th April 2002Another 1st Battalion 24th Regt. soldier at Rorkes Drift?

I am trying to also gain information on my great great grandfather ... the South African medal I have has a clasp of 1879, engraved 2081, Corpl. W. Ogborne, 1-24th Foot.
The claim I have heard was that he participated at Rorkes Drift, but I've been unable to subtantiate that. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

No W Ogborne was not at Rorke's Drift. He later became a sergeant though and transferred to the 2nd battn/24th.
