I have a medal inscribed
Pte. T Rowberry 99th foot.
The medal is South African Zulu campaign 1877-79, in Silver and has no bar or ribbon attached.
Could anyone give me further information of the Private named, why he would have received the medal and it's value.
Thank you and regards.

Dear John,
The 99th Foot landed at Port Natal (Durban) on 3 and 4 January 1879. 2 Companies were involved in the action at Inyezane and the battalion at Ginghilovo on 2 April 1879. Mainly after that they were involved in garrison duties. The battalion embarked from South Africa on 31 December 1879.

2237 Pte T Rowberry - medal with clasp 1879 is on the medal roll. I am unable to give you a value.
His douments might have survived in the National Archives at Kew in box WO97/2093 or WO97/3780. Pte Rowberry is one on 934 men of 99th on the medal roll.
