Date | Original Topic | 24th March 2005 | ARCHIBALD BEVERIDGE - BRITISH ARMY By Margaret Sparks I have been told my grandfather lost a leg in a battle in India in the late 1890s but I have exhausted my search to try and confirm this. He was from Burnley, Lancashire. I am in Australia and resources are scarce. Can anyone help? Many thanks | Date | Replies | 24th March 2005 | Martin Everett Dear Margaret,
Has this anything to do with the Anglo-Zulu war?
Go the the National Archives website - all surviving records are held at Kew - on paper NOT available on-line. Click on 'Getting Started' - you can then employ the staff at Kew under the Freedom of Information act - cost £1 per minute or choose from the list of independent military researchers. Good luck.
