Pte DEACON ( POWER ) 1467 . By Graham Mason Can someone update me ? , i have been doing some research into Pte DEACON ( POWER ) who was a deserter in Zululand ended up as a railway police inspector in EAST LONDON ( UK ) ! . Was he ever arrested for desertion as i don`t seem to have found any papers relating to this . When i personally discovered his grave in the City of London cemetery Little Ilford i took a number of pictures of his grave and located his last home address and the place he died , i have noted a number of men from the then SWB were present at his funeral including C/ Sgt Bourne . I still if he was arrested and discharged when the regiment came back to the UK but do now know where he was born and where and to whom he got married. can anyone assist as to what happened between SEPT 1879 and what transpired after the return to the UK , thank you , Graham .
